1) Who We Are
MAS Youth of Boston Teens (MYB) is dedicated to leading the Muslim Youth through
Islamic Education & training in order to shape their future based on an Islamic
vision. Whether it is on the ski slopes, on the court, in a study circle, or at
any of our events, MYB Teens will, inshallah, help you to get closer to Islam
and Allah (SWT) by providing a forum to understand your Deen, express yourself,
and have good oldfashioned halal fun! Our programs in Massachusetts include
monthly outings (third Saturdays of the
month), teen halaqas/study circles, camps, parents and youth workshops, sports
activities, and this web site where you can keep in contact with other youth and
exchange ideas on our forums.
2) How It's Done
All our programs are coordinated with the following in mind:
- Adults in transition
You're not a kid anymore. You're an adult in transition. YOU are the future
leaders of Islam in America.
- Understand and Apply the
Comprehensiveness of Islam
Islam is a way of life. Islam is not just religious rituals that
you're asked to memorize or forced to perform. We want you to understand the
comprehensive and balanced nature of Islam and apply it in your lives. You can
only love Islam if you truly understand it and see how it touches and enriches
every aspect of our lives. To us, there's no separation between Islam and
"fun". In our activities we bring the two together, the way it should be.
- Youth Leaders
Our youth leaders are also unique. Many of our Youth leaders are in college or
recent graduates. They have been in this country long enough to understand and
know the problems facing many Muslim teens. They also love Islam and they love
hanging out with you. The role of the Youth Leaders is not to chaperone you on
trips, but to be a trusted friend that you can turn to at any time.

- Summer Projects
During the summer, Youth Leaders sign up to run small group projects with
between 5-10 teens. Projects that have been held in the past include
basketball, soccer, woodworking and martial arts; they provide an opportunity
for a youth leader to teach the youth a skill or activity they particularly
enjoy. The group meets once per week through the summer, but the relationship
that is built lasts much longer, providing the youth with a new role model to
seek out when they need help or advice.
MYB College Prep is here to help you get in to
the college that is right for you. For starters, we try to give you the
information and criteria with which to focus your career aspirations and
potential schools. In addition to figuring out what you want to do with your
education, planning to go out and get that education is another important step
in the college and career process. MYB college prep gives you the experience
of people who already had to prepare for college – people who can give you
important advice on what to do during your freshman, sophomore, junior, and
senior years in high school. Finally, when you’re a senior you need to get
your applications done in order to attend the school of your choice. We are
here to help with the application process, giving guidance on how to fill out
the applications, deadlines, and managing all the paperwork that you’ll be
faced with during the admissions process.
