General Information
The Northeast Regional Tarbiya and 'Ilm camp 2006 is run by the Muslim American Society Youth Chapters of Boston, New York, and New Jersey.

The camp is geared towards seniors in high school, college students and young adults.

Educational classes, workshops, and congregational prayers will be done mostly in a mixed setting. Spiritual, Social and brother/sisterhood programs will be separate for brothers and sisters. Camp participants are expected to exhibit seriousness and dedication to the camp goals, as well as Islamic Adaab in dress and behavior.

This camp will be located at the Becket campsite in Becket, MA nestled in the beautiful Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts (more details below).

Our Goals
1) Developing the correct understanding of Islam based on sound knowledge.

2) Cultivating and maintaining an intense spiritual relationship with Allah and tazkia of the heart.

3) Planting within a strong sense of duty towards the work that must be done for Islam.

4) Developing incredibly strong brotherhood/sisterhood bonds between the participants

Activities to Fulfill Our Goals
Specific programs will serve each one of the above goals:

1) The educational program consists of tracks that each student will take (such as Islamic history, fiqh of minorities, purificatoin of the self, aqeedah, etc. For more details, see Topics of Study).

2) The spiritual program will include daily Azkar, Qiyam, Quran reading and memorization, gradual application of all the Sunan of the Prophet PBUH, contemplation and personal reflections, nature walks, and special spiritual exercises.

3) The camp will serve to help each student apply the knowledge gained, and will aim to help them become better practicing Muslims in all aspects of their lives. Through the aid of a personal development plan, each student will be armed with the tools to work for Islam and will formulate goals to put into action after leaving the camp.

4) The brother/sisterhood development will be served by the very nature and spirit of the entire camp, in which the Adaab of brotherhood/sisterhood will be emphasized and applied. Supporting factors will include division into groups with a group mentor, Ta'aruf (getting-to-know) and Nasiha (“advice”) sessions, group projects, group games that build trust and bonds between the participants (such as ropes courses, team-building challenges, etc), and a sports program developed to increase the sense of unity and cooperation between the participants (camp recreational facilities include canoeing, basketball, football, volleyball, swimming and more).
