Assalamu Alaikum my dear BrotherAsad,

I am writing you this letter to share my experiences with you which I had at the Tarbiya and Ilm Camp 2003 organized by MAS Youth Boston.  I attended this camp for the whole 9 days and it’s an experience which has changed my life and my outlook on it as well.

Where do I start, the knowledge level that was given to us in the various Tarbiya sessions was just of such a high quality with practical examples to implement in our lives.  There were many knowledgeable speakers and some notable scholars who spoke on various topics and answered our questions until the content became absolutely clear to us. We had an amazing night at the camp fire where we all imagined our death and were told of how things will take place in that stage of our lives, which we all know is the undeniable reality.

Among other things, all the attendees were split into various groups of 6-7 people and we had group exercise, games and various activities.  Masha Allah, the discipline taught to us in this camp will go a long way (insha Allah) in re-shaping and refocusing my life with the intent of being a true Muslim living and dying for Islam and Islamic work.  We become much more closer to Allah with everyday azkar and praying qiyam behind beautiful qaris.  I will make a final point to you which is if you are really selfish about yourself, as in wanting the best for yourself in this life and the hereafter, that this camp is something that you cannot afford to pass on.  Insha Allah, they’ll be conducting it next year as well and I’ve already made an intention to attend it again.  As a Muslim, I should want for others what I want for myself, therefore I am advising you to take time out next year to be selfish for our life and akhirah.  You will not regret it at all.

Jazak Allahu Khair,

Your Brother in Islam,

Humayun
