“In Good Faith” focuses on the issues faced by the interfaith community of Boston, with the construction of the ISBCC as the focal point. Among those interviewed include officials from the Boston Archdiocese, the Muslim American Society, and the American Jewish Committee. The hour-long film addresses the effect of the fears of radical extremism on the lives of Boston area Muslims and their efforts to come to a better sense of understanding with other religious groups. “In Good Faith” has been honored with the Salmanowitz Grant for Moral Courage in Film and has been entered in numerous regional film festivals.
Porter, a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in Political Science and Theatre, filmed “In Good Faith” with the hope of shedding light on the people and groups surrounding the new mosque. He found that the building of the new mosquein Roxbury served as “A microcosm of the national state of relations between Muslims and Non-Muslims.” Porter has a strong background in journalism and compiled over 150 hours of footage during the two years he spent working on the film.
