Day of Interfaith Youth Service

On Sunday, March 29th, the Cooperative Metropolitan Ministries (CMM) organized a Day of Interfaith Youth Service.
It was hosted by the Muslim American Society (MAS Boston) at the large new Islamic Cultural Center in Roxbury (ISBCC).
Over 70 youth of all different faiths gathered together at the Islamic center in Roxbury, got to know each other, shared lunch, and then spread out across Roxbury to do various community service projects.
They then returned to the Islamic Center to share reflections, have a meal together, and to renew their commitment to make a difference in their neighborhoods and the wider world.
An enormous mural that was designed and created entirely by a group of interfaith youth was also unveiled as part of the event.
This positive event of interfaith cooperation, community service, fun, and youth leadership beautifully reflects the values that the new Islamic Center is fostering and contributing to in the heart of Boston.
This event was also sponsored by: The Brandeis University Interfaith Leadership Development (BUILD) Fellows Program, Brandeis Interfaith Chaplaincy and Hillel, The Interfaith Youth Initiative (IFYI) program of Cooperative Metropolitan Ministries (CMM), the many member congregations of CMM, Boston University religious life, and many others. |
