300 Interfaith Members Attend Vigil for Gaza

Boston, MA, January 13, 2009: 300 members of the Christian, Jewish and Muslim communities gathered at Park Street Station for a silent vigil calling for an end to the violence in Gaza.  Attendees in headscarves, yarmulkes and ski caps stood side by side, holding candles and remarking on what brought them out on the cold winter night.

Passersby stopped and read signs flanked over some attendees that affirmed our common humanity as Jews, Muslims and Christians.  The vigil called for a ceasefire and an end to the violence on all sides.  It also sought to maintain and strenghten ties between interfaith leaders locally.

The night ended with members of the crowd signing an Interfaith Declaration for Peace (previously signed by interfaith leaders) and the faint sounds of attendees singing Peace, Salaam, Shalom.
