Our mission

Funeral services are emotionally painful and very stressful. Families and friends always struggle to find the strength to weather such dramatic events as that of the burial of their loved ones. The funeral arrangements for the deceased may sometimes be convoluted, and may unnecessarily delay the Islamic burial of the deceased due to holidays or hospital procedures. What is more, holding a funeral service can be expensive and may delay the Islamic burial even further. Adding to all this stress, families and friends may not be certain of the Islamic compliance of the services provided by the funeral home. For the deceased Muslims and their families, the certainty of adherence to Islamic funeral laws and rules is the last obligation that must be fulfilled before departing this worldly life.

Recognizing the need for such last Islamic obligation, MAS Boston has taken the initiative to provide the Muslim community in Massachusetts with services that help prepare families and community members when they are faced with such painful events. The main purpose of these services is to help and ease the burden of Islamic burial and alleviate some of the stress that inevitably comes with the loss of a loved one. AlMarhama Islamic Services, a not-for-profit committee of MAS Boston, hopes to provide such services to the Islamic community at large in the state of Massachusetts. It is also the hopes of AlMarhama to provide assistance to families of a recently deceased Muslim community member before and during the burial. Once the ISBCC officially opens its doors, these services and others will then be phased into and provided inshAllah through the planned ISBCC Funeral home.

The Muslim community in Massachusetts has been very patient in waiting for this kind of initiative. Finding and acquiring an appropriate burial plot or a full cemetery has been a long and arduous process. Finally, with the help of Allah swt, MAS has acquired the appropriate land, and today the first Islamic cemetery in the Massachusetts area has been established.
